How do I know what size candle to get?
You know, this is a question that I get a lot. What size candle do I need to get for my home? Well, I think that depends on your room. Does the room have fans running often? High ceilings? A lot of people in and out? Quaint and cozy? All of these things matter when selecting the candle size rhat’s right for you.
Most people believe that the candle wick is what releases the candle scent into the air. That’s only partially true. The flame heats up the wax of the candle and the resulting melt pool is what scents the room. So, the larger the melt pool, the bigger the impact the candle will have in your room. That’s why its so important to achieve a full melt pool on your first burn.
Small candles- votives, tealights and anything under 6oz are good for small rooms. An entryway, smaller bathrooms, a small bedroom are perfect for this size.
Medium sized candles- between 6oz and 10oz- are great for a medium sized room like a dining room, bedroom, study, etc.
Large candles- larger than 10oz or have more than one wick- work very well in larger bedrooms, living rooms and high traffic areas.
With that being said, you can put your candles in any room you like. You can even burn multiple at the same time and create a truly unique scent experience (just remember to place them at least 3” apart when burning more than one at a time). And always trim your wick to 1/4” prior to each burn to help maximize the life of your candle.
